Saturn Commutator

Low profile powered commutator for twist-free tethers, allowing subjects to exhibit more natural behavior and unencumbered movement.

Features geometrical reconfiguration from traditional stacked slip rings to concentric tracks. Results in a drastically lighter and more compact design - simplifying overhead mounting.

Supports all Neuralynx buffered and MUX headstages, and tethers, with appropriate input adapter.

  • 16 to 160 channels (1 to 5 headstages)

  • Motorized with micro-torque tether rotation sensor

  • Low profile ceiling mount

  • Through-bore cannula for optical fiber or fluid delivery

  • Easier to install

  • Sealed against dirt and dust

  • Lower initial cost, plus upgrade option for adding signal channels without purchasing an entirely new commutator

Included:
  • Brackets for ceiling or behavior cage top mounting - attached to commutator by Neuralynx prior to shipment. Brackets can be inverted for ceiling mount applications.
Sold Separately:
  • 17mm Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ)
Up to 17 mm Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) top mounting brackets for optogenetics experiments.
  • 29mm Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ)
Up to 29 mm Fiber Optic Rotary Joint (FORJ) top mounting brackets for optogenetics experiments.
  • Saturn Remote Control
    For manual remote control operation
