Finding Your Host ID

__prod_name is only licensed to be used on a single computer.  We do this by tying the license file to the host ID of your computer.  We will need this information before issuing you a license file.  There are a three ways outlined below to find the host ID of your computer.

Installing __prod_name __prod_ver

You can download and install __prod_name without having your license file.  When the installer asks you for a license file, continue with the install ignoring any messages that pop up.  Once __prod_name is installed, you can find the host ID using the license manager.

  1. Start __prod_name from the Desktop by double clicking on the Run __prod_name link.

  2. When the Startup Configuration Selection dialog comes up, press Enter to confirm the option to "Select a Different Startup File...""Start Cheetah with Default Configuration (Cheetah.cfg)"

  3. Launch the License Manager from the Help menu by selecting the "Licensing..." option.

  4. The License Manager will show you the host ID for the computer you are currently running.  Copy the highlighted 12 character number and give this to Neuralynx to generate your license.

Using the Command Window

If you do not want to go through the process of downloading and installing __prod_name without a license file, you can use Windows to determine your host ID.

  1. Bring up the "Search programs and files" option in the Start Menu by selecting the Windows icon.

  2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) into the Search box.  Once the "cmd.exe" program is highlighted, hit Enter.

  3. Type "%WINDIR%\System32\ipconfig /all >> %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\hostid.txt" at the command prompt as shown below.  This will create a file called hostid.txt on your Desktop.

  4. Email the hostid.txt to Neuralynx Support to obtain your license file.   *** Please let Neuralynx Support know if you plan to run the Neuralynx Remote Monitoring Station software on the same PC as __prod_name ***

Alternate Method for Using the Command Window

If you are unable to run the "cmd.exe" executable using the method described above, you can also access it with the Run application.

    1. Open the Run dialog box.  This can be done in two ways.

      1. Bring up the "Search programs and files" option in the Start Menu by selecting the Windows icon.

Type "run" (without the quotes) into the Search box.  Once the "Run" application is highlighted, hit Enter.

      2. Use the shortcut key combination of holding down the Window key on the keyboard and pressing the R key.

    2. Once the Run dialog is open, type "cmd" (without the quotes) in the text box and select the "OK" button.
