Platinum Black Plating
Lowering Electrode Impedance
Platinum electrodes are used in many different applications including various sensors, fuel cells, as well as neurological probes. Platinum Black, just like other plating methods, is used to increase the surface area of an electrode.
Platinum Black plating solution works well with Neuralynx's platinum iridium wire. This wire has an outer diameter of 17.8 microns and is used to make twisted wire electrode implants (tetrodes). It is made of 90% platinum and 10% iridium with a HML (Heavy Polyimide) insulation and VG Bond coat.
