Upgrading to a New Acquisition PC: If you find yourself in the situation where you need to upgrade your acquisition PC, please note the minimum system requirements listed below:
  • Dual-Core Processor (Intel Pentium D / AMD 64 x2 or newer processor)
  • 3GB Ram
  • 250GB Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM Hard Drive
  • 512MB PCIe DirectX 9 compatible graphics card (AMD FirePro V3900 1GB Graphic Card is currently supported with HP Z420/Z820 computer systems)
  • DirectX capable sound card for audio output
  • 1000Mbps (gigabit) Ethernet adapter

Licensing New Acquisition PC:
If you replace an old acquisition PC with a new one you will need to get a new Neuralynx License file for use with Cheetah.  The Neuralynx License is specific to the Host ID of the acquisition PC.  One method of obtaining a new Neuralynx License is to email a copy of the old License file (generally found in C:\downloads) as well as a log file generated from Cheetah from a session on the new acquisition PC.

Matlab User Group

Neuralynx is looking into starting a Matlab User Group which would essentially consists of a repositiory for Matlab scripts geared toward your research.  The goal is to provide additional Matlab options and flexibility.  If you have any requests for specific utilities or would like to submit a Matlab script, please email
Electrode Wire Update: Neuralynx will no longer be stocking tetrode wire spools.  It is recommended to order from California Fine Wire directly.  Recommended wire diameter of 10-25 microns.  Additionally, if using our Tetrode Assembly Station make sure your spool is 85.5 mm maximum in length with a hole diameter of 16-23 mm, and an overall diameter of 57-63 mm.  This will allow for a proper fit with respect to the wire spools and the Tetrode Assembly Station.
